2857.0. "Enhancements to DECwindows in DECmcc before FCS?" by OSLACT::BJORN (Woops, now I have to learn changing diper's) Mon Apr 27 1992 05:47

Hi,

I've installed T1.2.7 and I'm a bit disappointed in the DECwindows interface
implementation.

An example is from the "Open Domain..." window. When filtering domains, you get
a list of the domains inside the window. In this window, when scrolling down
the list, you have to click everytime you want to move forward one line, instead
of holding the MB1 down until you're on the line you want. Another thing is
when the same list is to wide to fit in the window, you have to scroll sideways
instead of being able to stretch the window, to get the full width.

Will all these minor "errors" be fixed before FCS?

Not likely. They may be annoying but they would take time to resolve.

We have been holding up the DECmcc/Ultrix far too long. We need to get
it in the hands of users and other vendors before our marketing window
    closes.

However, your feedback is much appreciated. We will include your
suggestions into our requirements phase for future work.

the X timer event queue is not available to us due to the way we've made use
of X and DECthreads

this bites you in several places:

	- insertion cursors don't blink in text fields
	- holding MB1 on scrollbars doesn't work the way you want it to
