2811.0. "DECMCC/VMS config for Xwindow" by LYOISA::HAMEL (Christine Hamel) Tue Apr 21 1992 14:14

    Hello

I have a question about configuration on DECMCC . We have a customer
who has a mv3500 with DECMCC/ VMS EMS V1.1. This machine has 24 MB of
memory. This customer wants to have 3 screens with DECMCC.
He asks us to know what is the better configuration he must choose :

    	- in terms of memory on the mv3500 to support 3 screens with Decmcc

    	- for the screens : - terminal xwindow
    			     - VAX Station
    			     - Dec station
and for these screens what memory he must take .
For example the terminal X has 4 MB by default. Is it enough to display
DECMCC or must we add memory ?
Have you guidelines for configuration of DECMCC on VMS not on
workstation but on server machine to answer for the customer.
Thank you for advance for your answer.

Do you want to run 1 DECmcc and have the window output go
to more one screen? Or do you want to run one DECmcc for
      each screen?

The Iconic Map will display all windows to the screen that
the process is attached to. You can't say put map window 1
on screen 1, map window 2 on screen two, notification services
      window on screen three.

Assuming that you want to run 3 copies of DECmcc and have 3 Iconic Map
displays in use (and no other DECmcc processes like background alarms
or exporting), then 24mb is the minimum for ONE display with an
additional 8mb of memory for each of the other two displays.

24mb really is the minimum. I suggest more.
