I have experienced the following problem with DECmcc V1.2 BL4 running on ULTRIX 4.2 and have not seen it reported elsewhere in the conference. I created a map using the Autotopology program. I edited mcc_autoconfig_prefix.dat before running Autotopology for IP and shortened the SNMP prefix to .MCC.IP. The map was created correctly but when I set up an alarm and tried to notify the domain, the notify process was stuck in the "being created" state and never completed. Although the alarm was working correctly, it could never trun the icons colors. I then edited the mcc_map file and changed the SNMP entity names back to LOCAL_NS:.MCC.IP.name and the notify domain worked. I have created maps manually with short names (.name) and notify domain worked properly.

2749.1 | namespace required for SNMP prefix for T1.2.4 | TOOK::FIGWER | Ulla Figwer LKG2-2/T2 x226-7858 | Tue Apr 14 1992 11:56 | 23 |
Hello, Thanks for trying out Autoconfiguration! The behavior in T1.2.4 of the command used by the Iconic Map to list members of a domain (DIR or SHOW, I don't remember which) required that LOCAL_NS: (or the name of your namespace if you are using DECdns) be included in the SNMP prefix. I am surprised that you were able to display the maps without LOCAL_NS: in the entity names. I suspect that the trouble you saw turning the icons colors was caused by the same sort of thing. With the next field test version it will no longer be necessary to include a namespace name in the SNMP prefix. Regards, Ulla |
