| I understand that Stratacom's Net Mgt System (Strataview) runs on a
DECstation 5000. Since I have not heard anything to the contrary, I am
assuming that plans for a Stratacom DECmcc Strategic Vendor AM are
dead. Is this true?
Secondly, is Strataview "launchable" from DECmcc/Ultrix, the way that
Chipcom's ONdemand net mgt application is launchable from SUN NETMGR
today (and DECmcc/Ultrix in January)?
Thanks, Stan

2715.3 | DECmcc v1.2 .. Depends on what arguments it requires | TOOK::FLETCHER | | Wed Sep 30 1992 11:15 | 23 |
| If the Stratacom application requires not arguments passed .. YES of course
it is launchable from DECmcc ULTRIX.
If the application requires domain, mapfilename, or selected entity
information, yes it is launchable under v1.2. If the
application has other arguments that may be retrieved from a flatfile
then a Cshell script can be written to get the information passable
from DECmcc v1.2 and then read the flatfile for the other data.
Once this data has been "gotten" by the Csh, the Stratacom application
could be invoked from the Csh.
Sequence..reiteration...
DECmcc "launches" Cshell.
Cshell gets a datafile name containing v1.2 launch data
Cshell reads this file for data it wants.
Cshell could read other files to get .. say community name information
Cshell invokes application with required command line and arguments.
Hope this helps...

| Yes. SVplus is 'launchable'. I demo'd this at Net U. last August, I think.
Although I used the DECwindows session manager to launch it, the idea is the
same.
