Hello, I need for my customer a description of Partial vs. Full Registration. Especially which directives work for Entities that are only partially registered? What data is retrievable(Char, reference...) when an entity is only partially registered? What data can be retrieved when the node is not reachable but fully registered? This data seems to be missing from the Field Test Manuals. Thanks Julie Ann

Julie Ann, An Entity is marked as partially registered if - Not all identifiers are in registration database. or - the Entity is not reachable at the time of registration An entity is marked as fully registered if, - All idents are in registration database. - Entity reachable (at time of registration at least). - Attributes are available. Since Reference attributes are stored in the registration database, they should be available regardless of device reachability. Dan | |||||

Can you explain more clearly "Not all identifiers are in registration database". We have some SNMP nodes that are only partially registering, but I can immediately look at their characteristics, counters, statistics, etc. (For some reason I can't look at Ethernet statistics, even though I can look at at Ethernet counters. Why?) PJDM |
