Hello, Some weeks ago I entred note 2261. There I described how historian with polling some counters completly slows down the VAX. Till now I heard nothing from nowhere in the hole big world. Realy no experience out there? With our very slow machine we have so much problems (We think some synchronisation problems in DECmcc). We have funny messages, alarms stop, DECmcc stops, VMS crashes, and so on. Are there some recommondations how many entities we can poll and how many alarms we can run and how many users can use DECmcc on what a kind of machine with how many memory. I can't belive that in the small Switzerland this customer uses DECmcc the most hard in the world. Roland

I see, no experience, no recommondations and nobody have seen such a problem. I try it in an other way: What machines are you using? Have anyone tried to enable 300 alarms or more? Does anyone use historian? Thanks in advance for your replies Roland

From an engineering point of view, we know that these operations are very memory intensive, and that often causes problems. We are trying to improve the number of concurrent alarms/recordings/exports, and perhaps more importantly, trying to characterize the behavior. -- Erik
