2608.0. "Iconic Map file Format specific questions" by TAEC::HAYES (Tu quoque mi fili ! C.Hayes SVP @VBE) Mon Mar 23 1992 08:22
Hello,
The Iconic Map Files require a specific format described
in MAP_FORMAT.PS if I remember well .
My customer is willing to use this map format in its project.
Could a specialist answer his specific questions ?
1) Is this iconic map file format a modification of another DEC format?
2) We have an example of a V1.2 map file.
(MAP_FORMAT.PS)
Is this example the complete template of all definitions?
I.e. Object_type 12 has defined (var, width, start_x, start_y,
stop_x, stop_y).
Are there other possible keywords for this object?
3) Are there any available routines which could make the work of
making topology maps easier?
4) Do you know if this format will be stable in future releases?
Best regards
CjH

1 The DECmcc map file format was developed for DECmcc. I do not believe
it was derived from another product.
2 I don't know if MAP_FORMAT.PS is complete. It isn't a customer
document and was not a development spec. It is an FYI for digital
internal developers.
3 I don't know of any available routines. The format is tied to the
Iconic Map PM.
4 Digital reserves the right to change the map file format in the
future (which is why it isn't documented for customer use).
