2570.0. "NETU ATM demo question" by OTOOA::DOIRON (Have DECmcc, willing to travel) Mon Mar 16 1992 13:54

    I have set up a copy of the French bank machine ATM demo shown at
    Network University, but the installation fails when the images are
    linked.

    I get the the following two errors:

    %LINK-W-NUDFSYMS, 2 undefined symbols:
    %LINK-W-UDFSYM,		COREWIDGETCLASS
    %LINK-W-UDFSYM,		X$GBLSTRINGS

    I have talked to Dominique Pacco and she indicated that the people who
    put together the demo at Netu had the same problem.

    I know it must be something trivial, it always is.

    Any ideas out there?

2570.1Look at DECwindows/MOTIF files.KETJE::PACCOTue Mar 17 1992 14:2022
	The two unresolved references appears because of DECwindows or Motif
    files which are not on the system. I think these are DECwindows files,
    even if you are running MOTIF. Our system has all files available and I
    have no "small" system available now for tests.

	When installing MOTIF on our system, the DECwindows files were
    erased by the installation procedure I remember. I do not know why,
    because whe should be able to run DECwindows applications under MOTIF.
    These are all X11 applications.

	I am not a DECwindows expert, but a DECwindows/MOTIF expert should be
    able to pinpoint the right files. If someone could tell me how to do this
    I'll be glad to find this out. When I run the GAB simulator, I see the
    following files open:

	[SYSCOMMON.SYSLIB]CMA$LIB_SHR.EXE;3
	[SYSCOMMON.SYSLIB]CMA$RTL.EXE;3
	[SYSCOMMON.SYSLIB]CMA$OPEN_RTL.EXE;3
	[SYSCOMMON.SYSLIB]CMA$OPEN_LIB_SHR.EXE;3

2570.2motif is not installedOTOOA::DOIRONHave DECmcc, willing to travelTue Mar 17 1992 18:0711
    Dominique,

    The vaxstation 3100 is running vms v5.4-2 and has never had motif
    installed. Just to be sure I reinstalled vax c with the decwindows
    development option. Still no go.

    I also tried it on another vax, this time running vms v5.2 ( I know
    that decmcc won't run on this version) just to see if it would link,
    but the same error appears. Again this 5.2 vax is not running motif.

2570.3Different option file !KETJE::PACCOWed Mar 18 1992 13:5321
    Richard,

    I started to play around with LINK. My original link option file (for
    a DECwindows environment does not seem to work any more either) Then I
    changed the file into:

	x:gab.obj
	x:gab.olb/lib
	sys$library:mcc_kernel_init.obj
	sys$share:mcc_KERNEL_shr.exe/shareable
	sys$share:decw$DwtShr/shareable		! DECwindows sharable image
	!sys$share:decw$dxmlibshr.exe/shareable	! Motif Sharable image

	Note that the sharable file for DECwindows originally was
    		sys$share:decw$DwtLibShr/shareable.

        Modify the options file or use the new saveset file.
    	I Made a new kit on KETJE::DISK$KITS:[MCCGAB011]MCCGABX011.A
