2566.0. "Updates for ELM and TSAM for MCC BL15 ?" by UTRUST::KUIJPER (Are you being served ?) Mon Mar 16 1992 05:02

Hi,

Any news about a new version for ELM and TSAM ?

Note 3.135 (date 20-feb) says:

> o The current TS AM kit announced in note 3.131 will not work on
> this baselevel. LAA will be re-issueing an updated kit very

What means very soon ?

Next week we will be showing DECmcc on the local DECUS symposium,
I would really like to show BL15 plus at least ELM (and preferrably TSAM),
due to the improved performance and better stability compared to the
previous (T1.2.4) baselevel.

I have to make the decision which version to install shortly, in order to be
ready in time for the event.

I know, I am (a little) impatient, but we are currently pushing DECmcc (and
the related services) very hard in Holland, and this event is a very good
opportunity to push DECmcc.

Don't worry about being impatient, it means you want our product!

Sorry, we are not ready yet. We plan on having that fix in for the field test
update for TSAM at the same time that DECmcc goes out with their EFT update.
I don't know how public their schedule is, but it will be before the end
of April.

I'm sure you can't wait that long, but if you are really anxious to
run TSAM and ELMS together, just note that where the problems occur is
when the two AMs are simultaneusly talking to the ethernet. This would
typically happen when alarms are set up and running in one or both, and
an alarm runs at the same period the other AM is doing its thing.
The two AMs can be installed and run, if you are carefull not to cause the above
situation to occur.

Frank,

Disregard that last paragragh. As you already know TSAM does not run
on 1.2.15, and we do not plan on releasing a field test update for that
baselevel. When I was writting that reply, I had forgotten you were running
1.2.15.

The only conflict for ethernet access between DECmcc ELM and TSAM will
be with ELM's Bridge Listener.

The problems described above DO happen (for now) between Ethernet AM
and TSAM due to conflicts around the Remote Console protocol type.
Planned additions to TSAM (involving use of locks) should eliminate
the Ethernet AM vs TSAM problem....

We are planning an update for the DECmcc ELM kit along with the BMS
update kit. The BMS date slipped and we are slipping with it. We will
be ready about one week after the BMS update kit is available. Someone
from the BMS team should have that date for you.
2566.5What about BL17?OSLACT::BJORNSoon to be changing dipersWed Mar 18 1992 08:476
I'm now running BL17. I*m also still waiting to demo TSAM and ELM.

Will I get any problem in installing ELM together with BL17? I'm going to
show X1.2 next week, and I had wanted to show the autoconfig of bridges.

Yes, I think there will be a problem. The ELM kit has its own version
of the Iconic Map PM to correct some problems. If you install the
T1.2.4 ELM kit on top of X1.2.17 you will be replacing the IMPM with an
    older and probably incompatible version.

One thing that *might* work, but I'm not sure: After installing the
BMS kit, make a copy of MCC_ICONIC_MAP_PM.EXE. Install the ELM kit,
and copy the saved copy of MCC_ICONIC_MAP_PM.EXE back. I don't know if
    this will work, though.
2566.7what versions with what access modules??COL01::LUNTFri Mar 20 1992 10:4711
    Hello,

It is very confusing trying to determine what versions are out
there and what works with what. We are a field test site with T1.2.4.
Can someone please outline the different versions and what
runs with what and what will, if any, be included in a Field Test
    update.

    Thanks,

Only one set of files has gone to customers:

BMS T1.2.4
ELM built on T1.2.4
TSAM (VMS) build on T1.2.4

Internally, we have made a VMS baselevel of BMS available (X1.2.15)
There is no ELM or TSAM update for this baselevel.

In mid-April, we will have a full update of BMS (sent to customers).
Updates for ELM and TSAM are expected to follow shortly after that.
