I'm trying to prepare both a V1.1 and X1.2.15 system for a demo on Tuesday and ran into a problem with the COLLECTOR. Sorry I'm no longer on line with the systems, so the description is a bit vague and probably inacurate, but the doc's tell you to add an MCC entity to your domain in the Iconic PM. When the screens comes up to ask for the MCC name, it says to use 0 which seems fairly obvious for MCC 0, but when I do this an click on OK, it errors out stating that it can't find a registered entity of MCC 0. Most of the rest works. This is on the X1.2.5 system using the MIR rather than DNS. I forgot to try using the FCL, but if I can't get at entity MCC 0, the I can't proceed to work with the COLLECTOR child, correct? Anyone else see this behavior? No this is not on my OSI/DECnet system! I am running straight Phase IV DECnet....not even DECnet V5.4 Extensions! Al

Al, I had the same thing, but I had already registered my mcc station using the mcc icon and was thus able to enable the sink from the icon map. Richard
2514.2 | An MCC of a different color! | DUCAT2::LICAUSE | Mon Mar 09 1992 17:31 | 11
Thanks Richard, I deregistered my entry for the local node and then tried to use the iconic map PM as suggested in the documentation. Still didn't work with MCC 0. I then queried MCC 0 COLLECTION_AM using FCL and found it under the name .MCC.MCC_DIRECTOR. Still a bit confused but at least I can work with it now. Al
2514.3 | On Map, ca't use MCC 0 to mean local MCC director | TOOK::TAN | Ed Tan | Wed Mar 11 1992 01:31 | 15 |
Re: 0 In FCL, you can refer to your MCC director on your system as MCC 0. For example, if your system's node name is BEDTIM, then you can register it as REGISTER MCC 0 or REGISTER MCC .MCC.BEDTIM_DIRECTOR However, on Iconic Map, to register an MCC entity, you currently cannot enter 0 to mean your local MCC director. You have to use .MCC.BEDTIM_DIRECTOR instead.

The v1.2 iconic map will convert ".0" and "0" into ".MCC.<node>_DIRECTOR" where node is the node name you are on. /Jim |
