I've not gone through the DECmcc set of manuals in details so it may be discussed already. Nevertheless, what i'm looking for is a single MCC_STARTUP.COM that KNOWS the appropriate order to start up things. Right now, we have a collection of MCC_STARTUP_*.COM in SYS$STARTUP. Figuring out which one to do first is getting worse with each optional package installed on the system. --svb

What version of DECmcc are you running? In general, SYS$STARTUP:MCC_STARTUP_BMS is run first, followed by (so far in any order) the others. In V1.1 you could have 4 optional ones I believe, SNMP, ELM, VBAM, and (if internal) TSAM. For V1.2 you would have BMS, ELM, VBAM and TSAM. I believe that each of the optional module kit installations tells the installer to insert the startup after BMS. I don't know of any requirements on the order after BMS. Does this help? s/rob |
