I've been testing the Private MIB Extension for a Chipcom ONLINE Hub, against ONLINE_2, 6 slots Hub. The compiling and adding to the dictionary went very smoothly. There are a couple of things I've been observing. In the MIB input file, a description variable exists for every item that is defined in the dictionary. My question is; How do I access this description from within the IMPM? I tried the HELP function from the MAP window and from the management windows, but it returned an error meesage in a dialog box, saying something like "Cannot access help library SYS$HELP:MCC_DECWINDOWS_HELP.HLB. ANy ideas? Another observation was the presentation of the interfaces, which was very strange. I read in another note that I had to count up the maximum possible number of ports per slot to find the interface I want to look at, i.e. port 3.3 is max port of slot 1 and 2 = 16*2 + port 3 on module 3 = Interface 35. With this method to present a HUB for our customers, we won't win. Any method to better present the module.port? Bjrn Olav Haugom

Unfortunately, the description in the mib is just thrown away by the mib translator. For our next version, there are plans to make the description available to the user through the help function. Next version of what? BMS or TCP/IP? I'm a bit confused on the packaging versus the engineering groups works. Can we expect to have modifications to TCP_IP AM before next version of BMS? What is the next version number? 1.3 or 2.0? Or do you mean next baselevel (which I'm waiting for on behalf on Alcatel)? Bjrn Olav Haugom | |||||

I believe this refers to a post V1.2 release. No plans have yet been announced regarding the version number or schedule of any release after V1.2. -- Erik |
