I"m running T1.2.4 and the latest, I think, copy of the TSAM. I"m running on V5.5 of VMS and also running DECnet/OSI (WAVE II) if it has bearing here. I am attempting to register three DECserver 700's ds700_1, ds700_2, ds700_3. By mistake I registered the third server as ds300_3 and now I'm stuck. I can't get rid of the entity. register term ds300_3 address = 08-00-2b-26-af-9a, type = ds700 Terminal_Server LOCAL_NS:.ds300_3 AT 24-FEB-1992 10:35:55 Registration successful. sho term ds300_3 all ident Terminal_Server LOCAL_NS:.ds300_3 AT 24-FEB-1992 10:37:49 Identifiers No such entity: Terminal_Server LOCAL_NS:.ds300_3 Unknown Entity = Terminal_Server LOCAL_NS:.ds300_3 deregister term ds700_3 Terminal_Server LOCAL_NS:.ds700_3 AT 24-FEB-1992 10:43:26 The entity Terminal_Server LOCAL_NS:.ds700_3 is not registered Not Registered Entity = Terminal_Server LOCAL_NS:.ds700_3 Also can't rename it.... or is my syntax incorrect? rename terminal ds300_3 address 08-00-2b-26-AF-9A, name ds700_3 Terminal_Server LOCAL_NS:.ds300_3 AT 24-FEB-1992 10:47:28 The requested operation cannot be completed MCC Routine Error = %MCC-E-IDMISMATCH, new identifier type does not match old identifier type Same results achieved whether done from FCL or Window interface. Any suggestions? Al

I suspect that this is similar to a bug mentioned in the release notes for TSAM. If you are running DECmcc in non-DNS (or local MIR mode) the DEREGISTER command will not accept the entity name, but will accept the ethernet address. I haven't had time to track down the problem to determine whether it is in TSAM or the Register AM. In any case, try to deregister the improperly registered terminal server using the ether net address, and start over. Deregister like so: MCC> DEREGISTER TERMINAL_SERVER 08-00-2b-26-af-9a Hope this helps, -Dave | |||||

Thanks DAVE...... Since I just put up X1.2.15 which must wait for the next version of TSAM I'll give it a try then. Al |
