Hi! My manager wants me to find out DEC mcc product. Both of us have no idea of the mcc and we want to see if we can use mcc to develop a database management tool. There is a document for the introduction of the Mcc, but it comes with ~2400 blocks of PS file. Is it any real "introduction to mcc" which I can read within says 30 minutes and understand what DEC mcc is? Or can I see some quick demo to determine if we can use DEC mcc product? I hate to print out ~2400 block of document and find out we can't use it... Thanks for the help... -Hamilton (DTN:293-5124).

Sorry about the size of the documents. I am afraid that if you have only 30 minutes to spend on the task that you will barely scratch the surface. MCC is not nor was it intended to be a small system. It is very comprehensive and extensible, thus any attempt to document it is going to be rather large. I suggest you start with the Guide to EMA management. If the concepts are what you feel you need, then you can read the first few chapters of the introduction to MCC document. If the interest builds you might want to take it home for some bedtime reading. I hear that it replaces sleeping pills for insomniacs ::-) wally
2361.2 | _DECmcc Introduction_ IS the "real" book | TNPUBS::JONG | Steve Jong/T and N Publications | Wed Feb 19 1992 10:25 | 11 |
Hey, I wrote _DECmcc Introduction_! It's not a prescription drug! Seriously, while .0 has his facts wrong -- it's not 2,400 blocks, it's 24,000 blocks! -- that has nothing to do with the pagecount of the document, but instead has to do with the graphic content, which makes it easy on the eyes. The document is (only?) about 264 pages long. Otherwise, Wally's point is well taken. In the user documentation we've written a lot of pages. On the other hand, it works out to something under 30 pages per engineer, which is good. (Now *there's* a metric for you!)

I noticed you used Interleaf - is it freely available to us in DEC ? |
