I installed the SNMP module and MIB Translator Utility to use the Cabletron MIB. Everything seemed to install O.K., but when I did shows on SNMP, I didn't get anything returned. I read in the manual that SNMP looks for a community string, and that the default is public. Not knowing much about Cabletron I asked my customer if he knew what the community string was and he said it was "cbtron". We tried this and couldn't get it to work. I could get information from UDP, TCP and IP but nothing from SNMP. I was using DECMCC 1.1. Any suggestions on how I could get this to work or what I did wrong? Thanks, Rick

UDP, TCP, IP and SNMP are object groups in MIB II and have nothing to do with the Cabletron private mib. The reason you could not get any information back from the SNMP group is most likely because Cabletron has not implemented it. I do not think that the community name is the problem. If it was, then you would not have got any info back for UDP, TCP etc. Before you start using the cabletron private mib with SNMP AM V1.1, please read note #1921.7. Rahul. |
