Can someone who is familiar with datatrieve, help me with a problem
that I am having.
I had to move DECmcc from a vaxstation that is going away to a 6340.
This is a cluster.
We created a disk drive to put all of the DECmcc software. I loaded
rdb, cdd+, dns, datatrieve and then the graph program in that order.
I put all of these five programs onto system disk. All of the
system parameters and authorize parameters are ok.
I try to set up datatrieve on the 6340, dmu is setup properly, I then
try and setup datatrieve by defining the database, and then do a show
mcc_export and I get the following.
DTR> show mcc_export ;
Element "MCC_EXPORT" not found in dictionary.
DTR> define database mcc_export on $4$dus5:[decmcc.export]usa.rdb ;
DTR> show mcc_export ;
Unable to show _CDD$TOP.DECMCC.MCC_EXPORT relational database.
%RDB-E-BAD_DB_FORMAT, $4$DUS5:[DECMCC.EXPORT]USA.RDB does not reference
a database known to Rdb
-RMS-E-FNF, file not found
I have submitted the exporter to run in the background to create the
usa.rdb files, and it does not create one.
any ideas????
Thanks Dave

Did you start any Export operations?
The background process creates database files only when the first
Exporting request for this export target is specified.

Dang it, why didn't I think of this, I will try this tomorrow morning.
Because I did not start an export job via DECmcc, datatrieve will never
find a database.
Why it worked the first time, 7 months ago, I did not really understand
what I was doing, and I got it right by mistake.
I think it would help anyone out there, if there was a procedure to
follow. So that people like me, are prevented from doing things in the
wrong order. I was trying to make sure that I had everything setup
before I went into DECmcc and started things going again, on the 6340
in the cluster.
Thanks Dave
