With mcc V1.1 I had problems with setting up alarms for very few nodes
(less than 25) and also with Exporter (ACCVIOs/system-hungs). These problems
still appeared after installing t1.2.4 so I started thinking if it was just a
matter of crude mips/memory lack or something else.
It was VS3100/76 with 32mb memory and some RZ56/57s.
I then switched to a 6420 with 94Mb of memory and some RA90s (an operation not
all Customers could afford...)
The system can now handle about 30 entities and their alarms but the EXPORT
facility crashes after some minutes with "insufficient dynamic memory" into its
logfile.
AUDIT_MCC.COM ran without a glich and our local SYstem Mungler certified the
system software as "satisfactorily tuned".
What is it? Do I need a 9000?
I'm including some system snapshots together with the logfile of the EXPORTER.
Thanks for your attention,
Enrico.

Your pagefile quota is really very small. As was discussed a LONG time ago in this file, exporter EATS LOTS of memory. Try bumping PGFLQUO over 120000. I also seem to remember some set of problems discussed is some other notes file that I follow (associative memory (e.g. mine) sometimes fails) about having WSMAX greater than 2^15-1. So, Set WSEXTENT (and WSMAX) to less than 16767 Set PGFLQUO to over 120000 I also Set JTQUOTA to 10000 BYTLM to 300000 ASTLM to 200 TQElm to 200
| 2329.4 | PGFLQUO should not be larger than your Page file itself | MOLAR::ROBERTS | Keith Roberts - DECmcc Toolkit Team | Thu Feb 13 1992 09:25 | 11 |
RE: .3 >> Try bumping PGFLQUO over 120000. Your Page File is 100,000 blocks. I would recommend not making your PGFLQUO larger than your Page File. Your system *may* hang, requiring a reboot. This is because you are allowing a process to consume more Page File than you actually have. /keith
| 2329.5 | More pagefile? | TOOK::R_SPENCE | Nets don't fail me now... | Thu Feb 13 1992 11:41 | 4 |
You may need more pagefile. The number of 100k is a minimum. I use
150k blocks.

Re: .3
WSMAX can be larger than 16K depending on the total memory on the
system (in fact should be larger for a machine
with lots of memory). For a 32Meg machine, there should be about 64K
pages, so it is safe to set WSMAX to 40,000 pages (there is actaully a
formula for settng WSMAX, setting it beyond the formula, would inihbit
pool expansion)
