2319.0. "Terminal Server AM (TSAM) field test" by TOOK::FONSECA (I heard it through the Grapevine...) Tue Feb 11 1992 18:05

I discovered a bug in the TSAM (Terminal Server Access Module) kit
put out last Friday which was important enough to re-build the kit.
If you grabbed a kit before noon EST today, you will probably want to
take a new copy. (The bug shows up as an inability to set any of
the port speed attributes!)

I would also like to hear from you if you install our kit. Please
reply to this note, or send me mail. Let me know what you think.
If you have bug reports, and do not have access to the NAC QAR system,
please create seperate notes for them in this notesfile. IF you
do have access to the NAC QAR system, TSAM is in the MCC_INTERNAL database,
and is listed as component TERM_SERV.

-Dave

2319.1Reference partition for ports?BIKINI::KRAUSEEuropean NewProductEngineer for MCCWed Feb 12 1992 08:5224
    I installed the kit two days ago on HADRES (Munich). Will
    copy the updated kit today. Installation went through
    without problems. I did not yet try SETs so I didn't notice
    the bug.

    One wishlist item which should be fairly easy to implement:

    I would like to see a Reference partition for Ports. This
    way you could enter information about what's connected to
    the port.

    While thinking about this idea - an alternative would be to
    use the REFERENCE AM to place ports on the map. But then
    again, when you look at a particular server - especially
    from the command line - you might want to have this
    information without switching to a different entity.

    NODE4 implements reference partitions for lines, whereas
    BRIDGE does not. I never realized this before, but I usually
    don't care about entering reference data for my test
    installations...

2319.3Very nice, but where are the icons?SGWS::SIDSid Gordon @ISOThu Feb 13 1992 08:5413
I installed it today, too. It took about 1.5 hours on a 4300,
much less than the documentation seemed to indicate, and it
seems to work very nicely, including shows and sets for ports, too.
However...

The kit didn't install the icon files like the release notes said
it would (e.g., MCC_ICONS:MCC_TERMINAL_SERVER_DS?00_ICON.DAT)
and so all I get is the big fat question mark for an icon. Not too
pretty. So I looked in the saveset (.B) from the kit and sure
enough, there they were. I copied it manually to the right place
and now it works, but this looks like a bug in the installation procedure.

2319.4Hmmm, I got the icons when I did it?TOOK::R_SPENCENets don't fail me now...Thu Feb 13 1992 13:035
    Check to see where your definition of MCC_ICONS is pointing. Also,
    check where MCC_COMMON points. Are either a search list?

2319.5Does It Work With 1.2.5?MAIL::CLAYTONMerlin Clayton DTN 445-7217Thu Feb 27 1992 14:093
Will this TSAM kit work with the latest EFT version (1.2.5)?

No. See the X1.2.15 announcement in note 3.135.
There is a note at the bottom about TSAM compatability.
