2295.0. "Problems w/ multiple MAN/ENT/INT=DECW" by ANOSWS::COMFORT (Spent a little time on the hill) Fri Feb 07 1992 10:16
Hi,
I seem to be having a problem with using mutiple window sessions from a
single MCC workstation. Here the scenario, I have a line mode MCC job
running for alarming purposes (either in batch or from the command
line). I startup a windows session, everything is fine. I then set an
X display back to my workstation running another windows session and
get all sorts of messages about alarm notification being disabled, etc.
On the command line process, if I issue a notify command for a domain I
have alarms in, when an alarm goes off, I get various errors such as
disabling notification, internal software logic errors and the like.
The final effect seems to be disabling all map notification everywhere,
but the alarms still function, as I still receive the mail notifications.
Is what I am trying to do supported? My customer is intending to
have three or four windows sessions running against a single MCC
station.
I greatly appreciate any input on this matter.
Regards,
Dave Comfort

2295.3 | looks like a quota problem. | TOOK::CALLANDER | MCC = My Constant Companion | Tue Feb 18 1992 08:48 | 13 |

The problem sounds like you are running out of memory. Please check
your quotas on the account, and also check what the system has
allocated for a page file. Remember when you are running multiple
logins/sessions each on thinks that the amount of memory specified
in the quotas is for itself.
What you are trying to do is definitely supported. You should abe
able to do it. Also try running the mcc_audit.com procedure to help
check things out.

2295.4 | Are you using FILEVIEW? | TOOK::R_SPENCE | Nets don't fail me now... | Tue Feb 18 1992 13:35 | 5 |
| Also, if you start up multiple instances of DECmcc from FILEVIEW, you
only get one process's worth of resources and each thing started from
FILEVIEW subtracts it's needs.
