2282.0. "DEC CMIP and Global Entities" by TOOK::MATTHEWS () Thu Feb 06 1992 10:00
For those organizations that are dependent on the DEC CMIP AM to
communicate with their entities/objects and those objects are
global entities other than nodes, I have some unfortunate news.
The DEC CMIP AM (aka DNA5 AM) will not be able to fully support
connection to your global entities with the V1.2 released software.
At the last minute we have discovered that our assumptions on how
we can connect to those objects is not valid and we need to design
a more robust connection mechanism that will work in a DNA4, Wave1,
and a Wave2 environment.
We regret the change in plans but have no alternative that will
work for everyone in the V1.2 timeframe.
We offer the following fallback plan. We will continue the development
work through the field test. We will provide a distribution kit
to all dependent organizations ASAP after the SSB submission of
V1.2. We will co-ordinate the dispatch points in the VEADEF file
for all dependent organizations so that there only needs to be
one copy of the DEC CMIP AM.
Any development organizations who are using DEC CMIP as their
management protocol, whose entities are not child entities of
the DNA5 Node object, please communicate with TOOK::MATTHEWS.
I need the following information to plan the post V1.2 DEC CMIP
AM development. When is your SSB submission date? What verbs
are required to support your object(s). A list of entities/objects
their child entities, and which directives each of them use.d
Please do not wait on official registration before communicating
this information.
