2243.0. "Bridge AM "old" vs "new"" by HOO78C::DOOLAARD (All for the best) Fri Jan 31 1992 09:33

    Hello,

I have the following question concerning the Bridge AM v1.1.0 and the new
ELM AM "DECmcc Bridge AM" V1.2.0

When looking at a LAN bride 100 I see the following differences:

    mcc>show mcc 0 bridge_am all cha

    MCC 0 BRIDGE_AM
    AT 31-JAN-1992 13:56:34 Characteristics

    Examination of attributes shows:
Component Identification = "DECmcc Bridge AM"
                          Component Version = V1.1.0

    mcc>show bridge .admin_local LINE 1 all status

    Examination of attributes shows:
                 Designated Bridge Priority = 128
                       Designated Bridge ID = 08-00-2B-13-C3-79
                     Designated Port Number = 2
                   Designated Root Priority = 128
                         Designated Root ID = 08-00-2B-02-F5-C8
                             Root Path Cost = 10
Designated Root Age = 1 Seconds
                          Port Module State = Forwarding
Forward Delay Timer = 0 Seconds
                                 Bad Hellos = 0
                         Possible Loop Flag = False
                 Management Responding Flag = True
Topology Change Acknowledge Flag = False

Notice that for one there IS a Port Module State = Forwarding !!!!!!!
Notice that there is NO Port Broken Reason.......
Now for the new bridge AM :

    mcc>show mcc 0 bridge_am all cha

    MCC 0 BRIDGE_AM
    AT 31-JAN-1992 14:52:37 Characteristics

    Examination of attributes shows:
Component Identification = "DECmcc Bridge AM"
                          Component Version = V1.2.0

mcc> sho bridge .betp1f3 line 1 all status

    BRIDGE RTD_NS:.betp1f3 LINE 1
    AT 31-JAN-1992 14:53:10 Status

    Examination of attributes shows:
                 Designated Bridge Priority = 120
                       Designated Bridge ID = 08-00-2B-0B-49-6C
                     Designated Port Number = 1
                   Designated Root Priority = 120
                         Designated Root ID = 08-00-2B-0B-49-6C
                             Root Path Cost = 0
Designated Root Age = 0 Seconds
Forward Delay Timer = 0 Seconds
                                 Bad Hellos = 0
                         Possible Loop Flag = False
                 Management Responding Flag = True
Topology Change Acknowledge Flag = False
                         Port Broken Reason = None

Now there is NO Port Module State information !!!!!
But there is a Port Broken Reason
For many customers this is an important attribute.
I've seen that for LB200 and LB500 this attribute is there for both
DECmcc bridge AM's only the LB100 has this behaviour.
    Could this be corrected?.

    Carlo.
