| Questions A
Will version 1.1 support event alarm from a PhaseV node (WANROUTER)
Answer:
No. MCC V1.1 did not ship with a PhaseV event sink.
V1.2 *will* ship with an event sink for both VMS and Ultrix.
However, it's looking like there will be more restrictions with
the VMS version than the Ultrix version by the time we ship.
Question b
Is there a script file to setup the Event dispatcher for
DECmcc.
I can not find any documentation in either V1.1 or V1.2 about
setting up phase V event logging to DEcmcc.
Answer:
No MCC script file exists to do what you're asking. PhaseV Event
Dispatcher setup is somewhat less complicated than the PhaseIV
counterpart. The NCL startup scripts (Ultrix 5.x) have typically
been used as en example of how to setup the outbound streams.
See /etc/dna/start_event_dispatcher.ncl. The NCL manuals also
provide documentation in this area. I agree, we need to provide
more in the way of documentation. I'll see what I can do; probably
in the way of release notes for V1.2. BTW, most of the DNA5 AM
release notes for T1.2.4 had to do with the event sink.
Question c
Will V1.1 be able to accept events from both
1) event logger (DECnetIV NCP)
2) Event dispatcher (DEcnet V NCL)
Answer:
V1.1 did not ship with an MCC DNA5 sink, V1.2 will.
One piece of support which will be missing in this version will
be the ability to interpret PhaseIV relayed events sent to the
sink. It will only be able to process real PhaseV events; not
phaseIV events in a PhaseV "wrapper".
