2195.0. "line counters: NCP vs MCC" by COL01::LUNT () Mon Jan 27 1992 05:26

THe following is the line counters for a VAX 4000 SYSTEM. The
first is the NCP counters, the second MCC. Why the discrepency
in the Recieve and send failures? And why does MCC not break
down what the Recieve and send failures are, like NCP does?

If this is to be qared, please in the external database, because we
are an external field test site, and have no way to follow
internal qar'S or of including a file in our QAR is also
not possible, therefore it is entered here.

Thanks, Julie Ann Lunt and Peter Kretschmer(BAYER AG)

If you have an external QAR account, you can enter the QAR yourself.
Use the command

*include host"username password"::filespec

to read in a file from your system.

Thanks for the tip.
2195.3need those reasonsENUF::GASSMANTue Jan 28 1992 08:147
    The lack of information about 'why the failure to defer' has come up
    before without answers. This is a very valuable troubleshooting piece
    of data, and one that DECnet has that IP does not. To lose it means
    that NCP must be used as part of the troubleshooting technique, which
    sort of defeats the purpose....

2195.4include does not work!!!!COL01::LUNTThu Jan 30 1992 10:488
    Well, I just tried entering this in the QAR system, but because
    my external QAr account has no NETMBX privileges, I can't include
    a file from my system. Is it possible to set up our account so that
    we can do this? It would take about and hour for us to enter this
    as a QAR, because the editor through a set host from Europe is
    unusable due to performance.

    Hello again,

    	Note 2115.3 is from Valbonne, who also suggests the
    include. Is this difference that they are internal and we are
    external?

Try the include again; it should have been fixed.

    Hi Erik,

    	Nope, it ain't fixed!
	When I logged back in and tried including my file, I get an error.
    The exact error is: %RMS-F-CHN, Assign Channel System Service request
    			failed.
    			-System-F-NONETMBX,operation requires NETMBX
    			privelege.
