2192.0. "FIND command restricted to open Domain??" by COL01::LUNT () Fri Jan 24 1992 11:44

Hi,

This time the question is over the FIND command. In the
online help it states: "FIND in the Navigation menu lets you find
an entity in a Hierarchy directly without Navigation through the
Hierachy." In the Director Use manu, page 3-36 it states "you can
name a hidden entity in your open doamin map and DECmcc will find it."

The first implies, to me, that the find will traverse down through
the Domain Heirachy and display the name, or a window with the domain
containing the entity. While the second implies the FIND only works
on the currently open domain, which is how it functionally works.

Is the FIND command SUPPOSE to only work on the open domain, as in
the second case, or down through the Hierachy, as in the first case?
It would be nice if it worked down through the Hierachy and displyed
a list of domains that it found containing the entity and gave you
the option to choose one to open.

regards,
Julie Ann

    Hi,
Entered as QAR, what exactly does that mean? Does it mean
that the idea for the functionality was qared, or that the function
doesn't work as it is suppose to?

    THanks

it means that the two have to come into synch with each other, and I am
not certain which will change. the qar answer should hopefully tell us
the correct answer. My guess is that at this point in time it is safer
to assume that the documentation will change.
