Shalom,
I want to monitor WAN network and I want to use ERROR PERCENT in couple of modes.
in real time and in PAST.
I met tow big problems using decmcc 1.1 and now with decmcc t1.2.4:
1. on DDCMP line ERROR PERCENT calculation is wrong on the CIRCUIT entity
and is correct on the LINE entity.
I expected to find this two value equal and what I get is
something like 0.5% of error percent on the line and 25% on
the circuit.
2. No line statistics in the PAST.
WITH DECMCC 1.1 the error message spoke about LINE SPEED
and with t1.2.4 we have NO DATA FOR THE SPECIFIED TIME...
Of course, I checked every thing line speed, recording of node circuit
and line entity with the attributes status characteristics and counters.
I mention this problem before in note 1849.
I am working on a project were the wan lines are very important and I
need the calculation of ERROR PERCENT in the past very desperately.
Any idea somebody?
I find it very strange that nobody complain about this problem before.
Am I the only one trying to get this type of information from the MIR OR
I am doing something wrong.

| Well, for one thing, the LINE SPEED isn't set for the SYNC lines.
I don't know for sure if it is needed for the calculations you want.

Regarding the difference in the statistic ERROR PERCENT for the DDCMP Line & Circuit,
I couldn't find out anything from the data you sent me. Looks like the counters were
zeroed before you did a SHOW. I would like to see the counters (Line & Circuit) both
before & after you do SHOW STATISTCS for Line & Circ. whenever the discrepancy in
ERROR PERCENT shows up. I would like to point out though that the formulae for ERROR
PERCENT are slightly different. The formula for Line ERROR PERCENT uses some Line
error counters.
Do you see this difference in the statistic consistently or is it random?
Regarding the problem with past data, you say you have recorded Line & circuit
counters and Characteristics for the entity in question. The only other reason
I can think of for not being able to generate the statistics is that the time
you specify on the SHOW directive is probably earlier than the time at which
you started recording the attributes. Try using a time that is slightly later
than what you had specified. Since you are recording the attributes for a number
of entitites, there is a delay between the first recording & the last one. For
instance, if you started recording Circuit counters at 10:00 am, the circuit
characteristics at 10:03 am and the Line Characteristics at 10:05 am, and if
you specify the Start time on the FOR Clause as 10:00am the request will fail
because there are no Line characteristics for 10:00am. So in this case you
should specify the START time to be 10:05.
Please try playing with the time and let us know if you still have problems.
