    Subj:  DECmcc/VMS Help File Builder Performance Improvements


    The DECmcc Toolkit Team is very pleased to announce significant
    performance improvements and added error checking for the DECmcc/VMS
    v1.2 Help File Builder (HFB) utility.

    The time to build the DECmcc CLI & Windows Help Files has been reduced
    by a factor of 8 !!!  Below are approximate times to build the DECmcc
    Help files (both CLI and DECwindows).  The source files processed
    include:

    	Alarms, Bridge, Circuit, Collector, Concentrator, Phase-4, Phase-5,
    	Domain, Station, Exporter, FDDI, General-help, Historian, Kernel,
    	Notification, PA, Sample, STM, and TCPIP

                         Before:    1 Hour 20 Minutes
                          After:           10 Minutes


         Testing done on the VAX 4000/300 yields incredible results:
                     from 1 Hour 20 Minutes to 5 Minutes
                            on a local RF disk

    Additionally, error testing was added to detect duplicate Topic Keys in
    the source HELP files.  This testing has resulted in QAR's on the
    General and Phase-4 Help Files which previously went unnoticed.

    Unfortunately at this time the DECmcc/ULTRIX Help File Builder will not
    benefit from these improvements, as the utility is not yet single
    sourced.
