2026.1 | DECpaint or DECscan for example | BSYBEE::EGOLF | John C. Egolf LKG2-2/T02 x226-7874 | Mon Jan 06 1992 08:00 | 20 |
| Jacques,
The two easiest ways are to either use DECpaint to create the
backdrop (save it as an X11 format, not DDIF) or to scan in an
image using DECscan and convert it to X11 (DECpaint will
convert .IMG to X11).
Please note that the X11 backdrop works differently than the
vector format backdrop. There is a note describing the
differences in the way it works.
To include an X11 backdrop inyour DECmcc map file add the
following:
version 0 !Used for reference within map file
domain jce !Used for reference within map file
background_pixmap sys$login:INTEROP_FLOOR.XBM <--- This is added
last_x 0.000000 last_y 3.569646 !Used for reference within map file

| please note that there are some scrolling limitations with scanned in
images, but when we showed them at DECUS the reception was as you
expected...excited.

By this I assume you mean that the backdrop doesn't move with the map
when I scroll the map, and also doesn't appear in the navigation window.
Is there any way around these limitations? How can I get my own personal
backdrop (which I make with DECpaint or scan in) to work as nicely as
the world and European maps in the demo?
Thanks,
Sid

The only way around this limitation (which is due to the fact that it's
a static X-11 bitmap file) is to convert (don't ask me how) your X-11
or DDIF images into the vector format used by the map backdrop files
you mentioned.
Hopefully someone with experience in that area will chime in now, and
tell you
1) how to do that or
2) why it's impossible.

/doug
