2021.0. "Can't dcp the ULTRIX Kits .. HELP" by FDCV06::TOOLEY () Fri Jan 03 1992 08:22

    I've been trying to copy the ULTRIX kits down to my system and I'm
    having some problems:
    
    I used the following commands and had the following errors:
    
       dcp -iv mccnix::~ftp/pub/mccbmsmipst124.tar mccbmsmipst124.tar
    
       dcp: can't open ......  , No such file or directory 
    
       This has happen to three of the kits.
    
      
    
       dcp -iv mccnix::~ftp/pub/mcc_bms_pak.csh mcc_bms_pak.csh
    
       dcp: can't create "mcc_dtk_pak.csh", Permission denied.
    
    
    I tried this around 7:00 a.m. this morning and then again at 8:15.\
    
    
    Can anyone tell me what i doing wrong.  Thanks for the help

This looks as if you don't have write access to the directory where you were
when you attempted the copy.

I'm not sure about the first error, but I think that could also indicate a 
problem with where you're copying to, rather than from.  You might try

	dls -l mccnix::~ftp/pub/mcc_bms_pak.csh

to confirm that you can read the files you're trying to copy.

I agree with .1, you probably have a problem on your end.
If the dls command does not work for you, let me know,
and I will investigate further.

    I tried this again and got the following message:
    
    dcp -iv mccnix::~ftp/pub/mcc_bms_pak.csh mcc_bms_pak.csh
    
    error:
    
    dcp:  can't create "mcc_bms_pak.csh". Permission denied

    Thanks for the help....I found the problem my side of the house.  I'm
    new to ULTRIX so I got an "expert" to help.
