1998.0. "Xwindows display on another systen, Ultrix?" by TAEC::HARPER (John Harper, DTN 830 3647) Thu Dec 26 1991 11:04

    No doubt the answer to this question is somewhere in the several
    thousand pages of documentation, but maybe someone can answer the
    question quicker than that.

    How do I run MCC (windows version) on an Ultrix system, and get the
    display to appear on another system? The obvious command would be:

    mcc_iconic_map -d feric:0

    but that doesn't work, "man manage" says "no manual entry", (as
    does "man mcc_iconic_map"), and "help pres decwindow" says nothing.

1998.1Remove display: use setenv DISPLAYTOOK::MINTZErik MintzThu Dec 26 1991 11:153
Try "setenv DISPLAY feric:0", and then "mcc_iconic_map"

1998.2Thanks... now about the colours.TAEC::HARPERJohn Harper, DTN 830 3647Thu Dec 26 1991 12:3713
    Good, thanks.  That worked.

    Next question.

    The colours that I get are pretty horrible, but I can live with that.
    What I find less agreeable is that when I create lines on the map,
    they are the same colour as the background (white). This makes them
    hard to see. I can't find any way to change this...?

    Even if there is a way (which no doubt there is) I question whether
    this is the best default setting!

This looks like the same question that is in note 1911,
now QAR 2051.
1998.4setenv DISPLAY and use "&", too.CUJO::HILLDan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer ResidentMon Jan 13 1992 12:338
    Try sticking an "&" after the "mcc_iconic_map" command to keep your
    window around.

    Example:
    % setenv DISPLAY feric:0 (feric:0 uses TCPIP, feric::0 uses DECnet)
    % mcc_iconic_map &

    -dh
