About the Data Collector AM: - is it also available under DECmcc/Ultrix V1.2 ? - can a foreign (i.e. non-DEC) system send events to this AM ? Thanks in advance, Michel

1972.2 | we welcome help | TOOK::MATTHEWS | Fri Dec 20 1991 14:39 | 16
Eric is correct. The only transport that is available for V1.2 is DNA. Future versions will support TCP as a transport mechanism. We will also accept any help from the field organizations to develop libraries for various transports on particular platforms. For example, DECmcc will provide the library for VMS and Ultrix using DNA transport. We would welcome a field developed library for DECnet DOS, DECnet on OS2, and DECnet Mac. If someone has a need for a library using DNA transport which is supported on some other platform (ie. Unix System V), we would welcome that addition to our product but will utilize our resources to provide additional transports ends at the DECmcc end. Our priorities are TCP, Simple Asynch, OSI CMIP, RPC. wally
1972.3 | not DNA but DataGeneral | BONNET::DENIS | michel Denis | Sun Dec 22 1991 12:15 | 11 |
Wally, In fact TCP-IP is what we need (the foreign system is Data General). We would need it for Summertime 1992-- the EIS persons of the account team could implement it possibly or they could wait if it comes before next summer. Another alternative seems to be to build/use a TCP<->DNA gateway. Any comment/feedback/help is welcome... michel |
