VMS: MCC_COMMON:
ULTRIX: /var/mcc
Note: Private MIRs can be created anywhere, so check your
logicals/environment variables for variants of the defaults.

| Uh, sorry Tom, not quite right.
Those directories are where the MIR repository table is stored (i.e.,
the the MIR's MIR), but individual repositories are stored in what
ever directory is specified on the mcc_mir_create_repository call.
For the DEC-supplied FMs, the alarms and local DNS repositories also
happen to use MCC_COMMON (/var/mcc), but the historical data
repositories are stored in the directory of the associated domain (
the directory specified or defaulted to "current" in the CREATE DOMAIN
command). This is to have the domain "owner" also be the owner of
that domain's historical data. Otherwise you would have the problem of
anyone wanting to write historical data needing write access to a
system directory like MCC_COMMON.

| Many thanks for the quick response.
I have found the following files:-
.MCC_HIST_ATTR011_1
.MCC_HIST_ATTR011_P
.MCC_HIST_INST011_1
.MCC_HIST_INST011_P
.MCC_HIST_Q11_Q
Are these the relevant files for historical data? If so, what is in
each file?
Thank you
Gary

| Not sure why you need to know this, but.....
.MCC_HIST_ATTR011_1 Attribute data file
.MCC_HIST_ATTR011_P Attribute control file
.MCC_HIST_INST011_1 Instance data file
.MCC_HIST_INST011_P Instance control file
.MCC_HIST_Q11_Q Queue file
The "_1" files are the data, the "_P" files are the control files
(contain info on what recording have been defined and what their state
is), and the "_Q" file is used to communicate requests between the FM
and the background process.
