T1.2.3 on Ultrix Local MIR From iconic map, I set an alarm for a snmp ultrix system for coldstart event. Did a snmpd restart on target ultrix system. The notification window shows the alarm fired. But the map window is not updated, although the notification is enabled for the domain in the map window. Viewing the alarm from the map window or command line, the alarm is still in enabled state. Disabling it from either interface, says Normal operation will be terminated. But the state after disabling is still ENABLED. Could not delete it at all. I did a reboot of the system, the state of the rule is disabled now. It can be deleted. Seems like after the rule is fired, the rule cannot be disabled or deleted. I tried the same stuff on the VMS T1.2.3. The map is updated with the alarm notification. The rule can be disabled and deleted. Raj ACT Singapore

We are working on a number of problems related to alarms on ULTRIX, including problems disabling. This should be resolved before T1.2.4. We'll check into the notification part. -- Erik
1934.2 | check: salience changes enabled, entity is in domain, entity's identifiers | DADA::DITMARS | Pete | Thu Dec 12 1991 12:23 | 18 |
>The notification window shows the alarm fired. But the map window is not >updated, although the notification is enabled for the domain in the map >window. Check that the state of the "Salience Changes" button in the File menu is "enabled" (the "Enable Salience" button should be greyed out). If salience changes are disabled you'd get no color changes in the Map window. Check the domain and entity as they appear in the notification shown in the notification window and make sure that the specified entity is registered and a member of the specified domain. If the above are OK, do a show all idents of the icon that you think should be turning a color and compare the results with the entity specified in the notification window. The IMPM tries to match notifications with icons by converting the identifiers of both to a common identifier (typically the primary DNS identifier). If the translation fails for some reason, there will be no match.
