   1 Introduction

This manual is designed to be a reference for the VAX
DetMCC/VMS system. It is assumed that the reader is
          familiar with the DECmcc software.

          __________________________________________________________________

   1.1 Product Description

VAX DetMCC/VMS was developed because of the lack of
communication possibilities with the process running
the alarms operation in DECmcc V1.1 and 1.2 for VMS.

For example, if you need the alarms to run all of
the time and start automatically independent of any
interactive actions, the preferred way should be to
have a batch job enabling all alarms at a specific
          time each day.

The problem with above example is that the context
of all alarms etc, in current version of DECmcc for
vms, are process specific. So you could not check the
status, disable or modify the rules in the batch job.

VAX DetMCC/VMS will solve this problem for you. VAX
DetMCC/VMS will create a detached process running
DECmcc and communicate to other processes via mailbox
and pseudodevices. This enables any user, at any
time, to control and monitor the active alarm rules
independent if the user is a interactive or batch job.

Am I correct in thinking that this product is for Internal use only?

If this is correct are there any plans to make it available to
Customers (via assets maybe) in the future ?

    regards,
    	Richard.

You are allowed to think what you like to think... :-)

....during the installation the following message is printed:

Yes it is, as soon as we have located all major bugs and fixed
them. So it's very importen that all of you DetMCC users report
all problems that you find. A update release is scheduled to the
beginning of next mounth. It will include some bug fixes, some of
the known restrictions will be removed etc. etc.
