1789.1 | SNMP V1.1 should be able to handle the RMON mib. | YAHEY::BOSE | | Mon Nov 11 1991 12:28 | 15 |
|
SNMP AM V1.1 supports private vendor mib extensions. From the
AM's point of view the RMON mib is no different from a private
mib extension, and as such the AM supports the RMON mib. The only
restriction is that the variables sent back with the three enterprise
specific traps will not be displayed, since the current version
of the access module can handle variable bindings for generic traps
only.
In fact I've already managed to translate the RMON mib and load
it into our MCC dictionary. I only need an agent to test it against.

1789.2 | V1.2 support? | DPDMAI::DAVIES | Mark, SCA Area Network Consultant | Wed Mar 11 1992 20:18 | 10 |
| What type of support is available in DECmcc V1.2 for the RMON MIB?
Does the TCP/IP DA or PA have support the info in any way?
Are there any graphs produced to show this information?
Thanks,
Mark

1789.3 | RMON mib treated like any other mib extensions. | YAHEY::BOSE | | Thu Mar 12 1992 10:28 | 11 |
|
The RMON mib is treated as any other mib extension by the SNMP AM.
Using DECmcc graphing functionality, you should be able to graph
any numeric attribute.
Currently neither TCP/IP DA or PA does any special processing with
the RMON data. However, it is clear that we need some applications
soon which will interpret RMON information and present it to the user
in a useful form.
