Hi...

A customer of ours bought the MCC/EMS software around a year ago and is just
getting round to installing it!!

If he were to use a PAK for DECMCC-SMS (as opposed to EMS) would this enable
him to use all of the MCC software except the NMCC compoment or are there
checks made to ensure that the EMS PAK is there even if the NMCC software is
not used.

    At the risk of sounding stupid, why doesn't he use the EMS PAK that
    he bought? If he bought EMS, how would he have an SMS PAK?

Hi, Thanks for the reply... (and the perfectly valid question)

Unfortunately, it looks as though he was sold EMS but actually only wants to use
SMS, (ie does not want the NMCC functionality) and it looks as though he
is going to be allowanced for the extra cost he paid in puchasing EMS.

If the Account team want to ensure (via PAKs) that the customer does not use
the full EMS functionality and they obtain an SMS PAK for him, will the EMS 
software work??

    If he has an SMS license, things which are EMS specific should not
    work. However, if he has an EMS license, then all things in SMS should
    work.
