When comparing our report generation capabilities in DECmcc, its nowhere near some our competitors, with easy to use point and click interface. Our method of report generation is still very diffcult, imagine trying to learn CDDplus and DATATRIEVE or INGRES/SQL for the ultrix side. There are alot of customers here crying when trying to customize reports. Are there any plans to have easy to use, point and click interfaces for report generation. This is another area where our customers are demanding for a better user interface which is integrated into the DECmcc, something like DECquery for Windows kind of interface, where one can structure their own report by mouse actions. 1735.2 | part os service delivery tools development | CALIFE::PATEL | We'll get it right on the night | Mon Dec 02 1991 12:22 | 18 |
We in service delivery tools development are working on just this capability, however its on a shoe string budget. This functionality is to be used in a environment where DEC has sold a Network Management and Operations Service The idea is to be able to bring up a reporting screen, from which the user gets shown the global instances, gets to choose the type of report ie error rate utilization etc, then gets given a selection of child instances available (ie line qna-0, qna-1 etc). This is is in phase 1 (just about got the top level design done) so it's a little too early to give exacts on the end results. prod me again in say 3-4 weeks and I will get docs to you. Amrit |
