1683.1 | Check MCC_MAPS logical... | MEHR::MEHR | | Mon Oct 21 1991 14:53 | 14 |
|
Make sure your logical MCC_MAPS points to the correct location.
($ Show logical MCC_MAPS). Especially if you had installed MCC dir
on a different disk than System disk.
It seems that when you save a map it might store it in one directory
(ie: in SYS$SPECIFIC) but looks for it in a different directory!
(ie: SYS$COMMON).
Please post your results...

and no one is touching you map files.

1683.3 | Make MCC_MAPS point to a specific place | TOOK::R_SPENCE | Nets don't fail me now... | Fri Nov 08 1991 17:22 | 14 |
| The default definition for MCC_MAPS when you install the system causes
it to look in and write to the "Current" directory. That is, where
ever you are currently SET DEFault.
If you change your directory often or access DECmcc from different
usernames, then you will have map files written all over the place.
As suggested in a previous reply, define the logical MCC_MAPS
to point to a known place. I suggest that you put it in your login.com
file if you are only one of many independant users of DECmcc or, if
there are users in several usernames that should be coordinating
all use of DECmcc, then make it a group or system logical.

1683.4 | ICONS autoplaced, then disappear. | CUJO::HILL | Dan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer Resident | Tue Nov 26 1991 23:58 | 15 |
| I've recently completed the installation of DECmcc on a new system and
was in the process of rebuilding maps when I noticed this problem, too.
When I save my map, I lose icons. They are also being deleted from my
domain. What's going on??
1. $ DEFINE/SYSTEM/EXEC MCC_MAPS SYS$SPECIFIC:[MCC] ! Done
2. I'm the only user, so no conflict.
3. These are brand new maps created using an editor (initially),
then refined via the IMPM.
4. I can verify that the new version of each map goes in
SYS$SPECIFIC:[MCC].
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

1683.6 | same problem with domain of 130 stations | BACHUS::FOLENS | | Thu Jun 25 1992 05:48 | 9 |
| Any progress on this problem?
I discovered the same problem on a customer site in a domain where 130
DECserver's are registered as station's. The customer saves the map and
then exits from mcc. When he restarts it a number of stations are
autoplaced on the top of the map (sometimes the same station appears
twice on the map) and also some stations have disappeared.

1683.7 | Problem solved | BACHUS::FOLENS | | Fri Jun 26 1992 09:14 | 7 |
|
Solved the problem by printing the map file and comparing what members
are in this domain via the MCC-character-cell interface.
Some entity's found in the MCC directory were missing in the map file.
