1668.0. "LAN segment's management" by MLNCSC::MILANA (Patior ut Potiar...NETWORKS:) Thu Oct 17 1991 13:45
Hi all,
I've got a very basic question from a potential customer:
Environment:TCP/IP
Hardware: Various Sun, I*M &compatibles, HP, DEC (4000s & 3x00s)
Software: Various flavours of Unix
"I've a multi-segment LAN, with bridges as needed," he says, "what
level of detail can I reach when manageing entities on segments
other than the one where the platform resides?
In particular, what if a malicious user comes and connects a
portable and, by improperly setting up this new entity, jams the
normal behaviour of that segment (if not the whole LAN)?"
Thanks in advance for any hints,
Giuseppe.
