Is it possible to archive (on magnetic tape for example) and
restore the MIR:
- On line (without disturb the network management)
- Off line ?
If such archival is possible , could you please describe the way to do
it ?
Thanks a lot.
Isabelle.

There are potentially many MIR files. Some of these are only in use when specific functions are being utilitized (like the alarms MIR files), while others are referenced more frequently (like the dictionary MIR files). For archiving them I would suggest that you do it while no commands are being run (if you don't want to take MCC down), but that means NO rules running,..and then it seems pointless. Take down MCC to do your archives would make a lot more sence. Also note that the alarms extract procedure provides you a means with making an ASCII representation (DECmcc com file) of the data in it's MIR, so that it can be easily loaded onto other systems where a MIR might already exist with some rules defined. | |||||
