Hi... I have a customer who is planning to install MCC/EMS on a VS3100 and wants to use the Reports component including Graphs. Does he need to install CDD,Datatrieve and DECgraph on the 3100 or is it possible to offload the reporting work to other systems (which already have some of the necessary layered products? Rgds, Graham

RDB supports remote databases so the RDB files "could" be located on the system with the reporting tools and the reports could be generated on that system. Note that the data is in RDB and can be accessed by ANY applications or tools that can access RDB. Datatrieve is not a required way of doing it. s/rob

When we chose to use the "Datarieve approach", we knew it would be too expensive for most sites. We had almost always envisioned that the ws would output to an Rdb database and that the file would either be accessed remotely by an "MIS Datacenter" machine, or copied to that machine. The clear answer is that you do NOT need CCD and Datatrieve on the ws, but you do need the Rdb RTO (licence is free). JCE
