1622.1 | Some help (?) | FAFNIR::GOLDFARB | Stan Goldfarb, LKG1-3/L06 | Tue Oct 15 1991 17:43 | 20 |
| The two basic ways to to obtain an IDP value (AFI and IDI) are to:
1) Have one assigned to you by a recognized authority (e.g. ANSI).
2) Create one from a value that has already been assigned to you by
some recognized authority (e.g. the telephone company).
I made up a set of slides a few months ago that provide basic information on
how to do this. The information they provide may be enough for you. To get
the postscript version of the slides, copy the file:
TOOK::DOC$:[MIGRATION.SLIDES_NSAP_OVERVIEW]NSAP_OVERVIEW.PS
I hope it helps. If you are creating your own IDP, the slides should be
enough. If you need to have an IDP allocated for you, and you need more
information, I suggest you contact Iain Smith (DELNI::SMITHI). If nothing
else, he might be able to put you in touch with people who have gone through
the process of having an IDP allocated.

| RE .0's second question.
You asked about the latest FM's and AM's available for DECmcc, what are
you really looking for?
1) the released available xM's? (DECmcc BMS, SNMP AM)
2) the third party AM's that vendors have on the market?
3) the homegrowns available in house
4) the field test versions of upcoming releases?

All of the above. Seriously. We're very interested in using DECmcc and its
various arms and legs, but it's getting increasingly hard to know what is
available. I spent 20 minutes looking through 3.*, manually compiling a list
of what products are available, their version numbers and their incompatabil-
ities (if any).
I'd really like to see a note that summarizes all of this stuff. Also,
announce this note in the conference notice, so it's as visible as the kits and
patches notes.
As a kindness, in the same note, please summarize the AMs/FMs/PMs that are part
of a particular kit (DECmcc BMS includes . . . . ., for example).
Thanks!

1622.4 | send me what you have | TOOK::CALLANDER | MCC = My Constant Companion | Tue Mar 31 1992 16:38 | 7 |
| Okay, let me see what I can do. If you have a list you have already
started compiling, I would appreciate your mailing it to me as a good
starting place.
thanks
