1490.0. "dictionary install problem?" by NAC::ENGLAND () Thu Sep 12 1991 13:49
I installed MCC/ULTRIX and got this error when I tried to put the
dictionary somewhere other than the default location.
Will try reinstalling with the default location, see if that works
better. I heard the dictionary was humongous, that's why I did it.
The directory definitely exists and I was running from root, so it's
not a protection problem. At a minimum, you don't want the
installation to continue if you can't install the dictionary, right?
There is 101 megabytes free on /users so this ain't the problem either.

Starting DECmcc dictionary installation . . .
This installation allows the data dictionary to be located on a
separate
partition or file area. You may choose the default area, /usr, or
an
area of your choice.
The recommendation for new installations is to choose the default
area.

| By the way, I re-installed MCC and chose the default on the dictionary
question, it now works, but the dictionary wound up in the directory
which I originally specified on the first try, /users/england/mcc/ .
