1475.0. "UNABLE TO CREATE ..... .IT IS NOT REGISTERED" by JGO::VUGT () Tue Sep 10 1991 04:27

    HELLO ,

    Who can help me with the following problem when I tried to use the
    DOMAIN icon I got the message

    UNABLE TO CREATE NMGMCC_NS:.TEST. IT IS NOT REGISTERED.

    But in DNS and in MCC with a show command on line level I see that
    it is indeed registered. Infact I missed only the picture.

    Thanks in advance, PETER VAN VUGT

    Have you tried to register the domain name without the dot?

    	TEST instead of .TEST

    Good luck

1475.2Shouldn't have to Register DomainsBSYBEE::EGOLFJohn C. Egolf LKG2-2/T02 x226-7874Tue Sep 10 1991 09:099
	You shouldn't have to "Register" Domains.

	I saw a similar problem on a system here in LKG but haven't had
	time to track down just exactly what the problem is.

	You Create/Delete Domains. You Create/Delete Domain members.
	In all the time I've used DECmcc I have never "Registered" a
	Domain.

    Not to nitpick but MCC domains are registered global entities. They
    need to be so that all users of the namespace see the same definition
    of the domain. They also need to be registered so they can be inserted
    into other domains.

    However, the registration of a domain is done automatically when it
    is created so you don't normally have to worry about it.
