I am just starting to use MCC BMS (V1.1) and am having a go at the alarm rules but have a problem that I cannot quickly see the resolution to. I have created two rules within a domain for a Lanbridge 100 entity using the Expression_rule_format_1 as follows; 1)Entity: Domain DSP_NS:.CSC Rule Bridge_In_LTM_Mode Expression- (Bridge Bridges.nmdsdav Bridge Function=LTM Listener)at eve :02 Severity- Clear 2)Entity: Domain DSP_NS:.CSC Rule Bridge_Not_In_LTM_Mode Expression- (Bridge Bridges.nmdsdav Bridge Function<>LTM Listener)at eve :02 Severity- Critical The "Bridge Icon changes to the color for Clear and if I make the Bridge a "bridge" or power it off the Icon goes to the Critial color, but if I bring the Bridge back in LTM mode it does not change color to Clear. Have I got my theory wrong, my syntax wrong or?. I have also got the rules set so they are supposed to dispatch mail but only the Exception mail seems to work. Also out of interest, if one is using the DECWindows interface to create rules are there any plans to increase the number or characters you can put in the Expression rule. It gets tight if you have some big entity names. Dave.

1441.1 | V1.1 shows HIGHEST severity | BSYBEE::EGOLF | John C. Egolf LKG2-2/T02 x226-7874 | Wed Sep 04 1991 09:05 | 11 |
Dave, You've run into the classic problem. In V1.1, we show the "HIGHEST" severity, not the last. You can go from "clear" to "critical", but not from "critical" to "clear". In V1.2 you will have the choice to show the highest, or the last severity. The alarm rule creation from the map is going to be inproved for V1.2

Re 1441.0 To increase the number of characters you can put in the Expression rule, press MB2 over the Expression text field. This allows you to enter more characters in the field and see them all. Verna

What BRILLIANT people you are!!!. Thanks for the replies. I was wondering if my sanity was in question on the alarming bit. Dave. |
