1. Is it possible for DECelms (housed in the VAXstation 3100) to access
Concentrator 500 and Bridge 500 via the FDDI/XMI?
2. Can VAX3100(DECMCC) register the bridge and concentrator
via this configuration?
Any comment will be much appreciated.

The protocol used by DECelms and DECmcc Bridge AM is LAN specific. The VAX 6420s will not pass the RBMS/ELMS protocol request onto the FDDI LAN. What kind of distances are we talking w.r.t. your topology? Can the management software be run on a VAX 6420? Attaching the VAXstation 3100 to either of the RTVAX LANs would also work. Chris | |||||

Ans: Yes, but the customer preferred the 2 VAXstation 3100s managed it.
What is the best solution of managing the entire network (DECmcc and
DECelms in 2 VAXstation 3100s)? If I have 4 VAX 3800s, 2 VAX 3800s
(ISDN server), 8 x X25routers (DEMSA), one SNA-Gateway(DEMSA) and
one DECrouter 2000 connected to the two lower portions of the ethernet
and evenly spread out between the two ethernets.
Assumption: Only one ethernet port is available and if additional Bridges
are to be considered.
