1379.2 | If MAP/TOP ANSWER = NO | TOOK::MATTHEWS | Fri Aug 23 1991 18:38 | 9
I don't spend much time following product names. Do you mean a product which implements the MAP/TOP protocols? If so, the answer currently is no. There was an active project in CIM last year which lost its funding and was discontinued. They were working on a MAP/TOP AM using the MAP/TOP CMIP which is older than DNA CMIP (I.E. and thus non-conformant with the IS CMIP). We worked with them up until they were unfunded. wally
1379.3 | MAP-AM --> T&N-EIC | ENUF::GASSMAN | Mon Aug 26 1991 11:32 | 12
MAP has been pretty much a NO-OP for the last few years (since the ENE trade show), but behind the scenes, I think it's gathered some strength. MAP stands for the "manufacturing automation protocol", and like Wally mentioned, it's using a OSI like CMIP like management protocol which is non-conformant with IS CMIP. I recently caught up with my 'trade rag' reading from May thru August, and noticed several articles on MAP - ie, it may show up on some RFC's soon. From GM especially. I'd think that if there is significant business available, that the T&N-EIC would be the direction to look for building the business case for development of the MAP-AM. bill |
