Couple of questions i need to ask about bridges. 1) Can the bridge am get statistical info from chipcom bridges. 2) If it can, then given that it has 2 lines where one is been used as a backup for the other one (spanning tree protocol). Then should you still beable to get statistical info from the active line. I have a customer you can get snapshot info and statistical info (duration 15 minutes) from a chipcom when he doesn't have a backup setup. If however he has a backup then the statistical info comes back with invalid parameter. He is using the ionic map, he hasn't tried the forms mode yet when he does i will post the results. Bipin.

1324.1 | TCP/IP SNMP AM for Chipcom Bridges | CHRISB::BRIENEN | DECmcc Bridge|Station|SNMP Management. | Thu Aug 08 1991 18:08 | 13 |
> Couple of questions i need to ask about bridges. > > 1) Can the bridge am get statistical info from chipcom bridges. No, the Bridge AM "speaks" the RBMS/ELMS protocol. The RBMS/ELMS protocol is only spoken by DEC bridges (LAN Bridge 100|150|200, DECbridge 5xx|6xx, soon DECbridge 90) and some Vitalink TransLAN bridges (TransLANs are supported by the Vitalink TransLAN AM). The Chipcom Bridges speak SNMP. If you can get a vendor mib for it (in Concise MIB format) then the TCP/IP SNMP AM V1.1 should be able to manage it. |
