1301.0. "Do you need maps ?" by ULYSSE::ZITTA (ENOC OPS SUPPORT-VBO ,828-5657) Thu Aug 01 1991 09:52

    For those who are interested ,we have produced a set of maps
    of Europe and European countries (using DRAW_MAP and other stuff).
    They are available on the net.

1301.1On the left side of the pond....RACER::DAVEAttending The School of Comparative IrrevelevanceFri Aug 02 1991 13:186
For those on the left side of the pond, these files (and others)
are posted in
	NSSG::SYS$PUBLIC:[MCC.MAPS]

1301.2Where are the maps?PHONE::BENDECKPaul Bendeck, DTN 264-2625Thu Feb 13 1992 10:3312

    I am unable to access the map files listed in the previous note in

    	NSSG::SYS$PUBLIC:[MCC.MAPS]

    For the past several days, this node has been unreachable. Does this
    location for map files still exist? Have these map files been moved?
    Is there another location for map files in the network? I just need a
    pointer.

    The node NSSG was shut down several months ago unfortunatly. I am
    checking but have not yet found if the map files were moved anywhere.

Those files were simply copies of other maps that were pointed
to elsewhere in this conference. the operations folks here were supposed
to make copies of all the disks before the system was junked.

If it is real critical, I suppose we could hunt up the tape.

Is it worth it? As I said before, there was nothing unique there,
just copies of other, known, maps.
1301.5Other locations for maps?OFFHK::BENDECKPaul Bendeck, DTN 264-2625Mon Feb 17 1992 09:2512
    Thanks for the update about the map files. I was under the impression
    that there was some sort of repository for map files in some central
    location so that these types of files could be shared more easily. If
    that's not the case, then I guess I'll have to do more searching
    through this notes file.

    I am looking for some backdrop maps for things other than geographic
    locations, such as a building for example. This is for a demo I am
    working on for DECworld 92.

1301.6Can't access the MAP files?STKHLM::WAHLLOFTue Feb 18 1992 03:0113
    Re .0

    I get the following message when i try to access the MAP files:

    $ dir MAYDAY::DUA3:[KITS.MAPS]

    %DIRECT-E-OPENIN, error opening MAYDAY::DUA3:[KITS.MAPS]*.*;* as input
    -RMS-F-DEV, error in device name or inappropriate device type for
    operation.

    What is wrong?

    Sounds like DUA3 doesn't exist on MAYDAY.

    I suggest sending mail to the original poster of the note.
