Does our Ultrix V4.2 support MIB II now? I tried looking with SNMP V1.1 field test, but most of the attributes are not gettable. When will it support MIB II? Also, will UCX V2.0 is suppose to support have SNMP agent, but will it support MIB II? Raj ACT Singapore

While you might find someone with the answers here, I would suggest the MKNME:SNMP conference, and SMURF::CONNECTION for the UCX question. -- Erik

A new version of the SNMP AM that supports MIB 2 and has a MIB extension capability for private or prototype MIBs is currently in field test and is targeted for early release. Please contact Product Management for more exact information. I am aware of an updated UCX which has an SNMP agent. I do not know what its development plan is or whether it is MIB 1 or MIB 2 based. You would have to contact the Product Management of UCX. There is a lot of discussion of an agent for Ultrix which uses SNMP. A prototype exists which I believe was created by ASDS and it will be shown at Interop in October as a proof in technology. It is built on the Common Agent technology from DECwest. I believe that some level of the common agent will be available with the TIN release of OSF1. Please contact product management for Ultrix for specifics on functionality and/or dates. wally

The V4 agent was MIB I. The contact for Ultrix and SNMP in the SNMP notes conference was Rich NSSG:: Rosenbaum. Regards, Mike |
