1228.0. "Register Token Ring devices as end stations." by SUBWAY::REILLY (Mike Reilly - New York Bank District) Wed Jul 10 1991 11:18
Here is an idea for DECmcc users who have token rings at their
sites. Try registering the devices on your token ring as Ethernet
end stations!!. With the configuration shown below I was able to
send end station TEST messages to devices attached to a TR.
+--------+
| DECmcc |
+--------+
| Ethernet
====================================================
|
+-----------+
| IBM 8209 |
+-----------+
| Ring
===================================
|
+---------+
| PC with |
| TR card |
+---------+
I havn't registered the devices yet, as I had to shut down DECnet
UCX and DNS on the node running DECmcc to get this to work. With
the addition of a LANbridge 200 with Ethernet V2 filters, between
the Ethernet and the 8209 it should be possible to register devices
on the TR. The usual rules of bit order swapping apply when
attempting to specify a device on the TR.
